It is 5F in Minnesota, so yes— I am tricking my mind into thinking about summer… AGAIN. And today I am sharing a delicate bouquet I made this past summer. There is something utterly charming about the delicate flowers one may find in a cottage garden. That is why two summers ago, I planted a small bed reminiscent of that garden style. Not only do I love the informal look, but also because, thanks to the flower commonly used for this style, they tend to be very pollinator friendly. And this garden bed has not disappointment me. The plants are always very healthy and it is constantly visited by little pollinator friends.
For this little arrangement I used a white pottery vase by local potter, Laura Brandenburg. I love her creations and their simple lines. For flowers I used the following:
Russian Sage {Perovskia atriplicifolia}
Veronica ‘Aspire Pink’ {Veronica spicata}
Scabiosa ‘Butterfly Blue’ {Scabiosa Columbaria}
Queen Anne’s Lace {Daucus Carota}
Cosmos ‘Sensation Mixed’ {Cosmos Bipannatus}
Borage {Borago Officinalis}
I loved the result— the different heights and and textures, plus the combination of colors is very feminine. I think it turned out just darling. And now I am yearning for summer even more. Have a wonderful weekend friends!
