This year, for the first time I decided to plant a veggie garden. Something about the pandemic had me thinking of the victory gardens of WW!!. Part of the strategy for keeping pests away naturally is planting companion plants. This is how I was introduced to marigolds. To be honest , I never had any interest in marigolds, because there is something very carnation-like about them, and I do not like carnations. But this year I planted them for the first time, and I love them! I never truly realized how beautiful and fluffy, with bright beautiful colors, they are.
For the vase I used a oil bottle that we got as a gift, and after we used the oil, we kept it. I just really like the Mediterranean look of it. And it goes beautifully with the colors of the marigolds and the black eyed Susan.
