In a Vase on Monday ~ Tall Lady Gladiolus

I was never a gladiolus person until I loved to Minnesota. I always considered them so passe, as flowers come. But then when I moved here 4 years ago, the next town over (St. Charles) had an annual Gladiola Days Festival, and I found myself seeing these flowers EVERYWHERE— if not in garden, at the grocery store, at the gas stations— everywhere!. And slowly they started to grow on me. The ones I am showcasing today were not grown by me but by one of my neighbors who graciously shared some with me. This color— my photos do not do them justice. It is the palest pink/salmon color. Just so lovely. And now I am thinking I need to grow some next year. For the vase, I chose one of my milkglass vases with a vine mottif. I love that it has a weight to it, making it perfect when I have chunkier stemmed or taller flowers.

I love the quote from Aerin Lauder, because that is my, I have to surround myself with plants and flowers always. I do not have a bi office but the little nook I used as such, feels cozy, as I surround myself with books, plants and flowers. It is my happy space.
