There is no denying that fall is around the corner. Even as I am trying to hold on to summer, our days have started to cool down at night and in the mornings. But alas! I am not ready to transition into autumn yet! It is not that I do not like autumn— I actually LOVE IT! But this is Minnesota. And with the arrival of autumn, it is a reminder that winter is not far behind. So yes, I will try to hold on to it as much as I can. :)

Now, being a visual person, I am all about changing decor with the seasons. And while I am not good at home decor and design as many bloggers I follow, I do know what I like— neutral palettes, not knick-knacky, and a style that it not fussy when switching from one season to the next. And that is definitely my philosophy when I “decorated” our entrance. Our house i not very big, but I try to make it homey and stylish. This was my husband’s bachelor home when we married, so that is all I will say about this. :) Over the past few years, I have started making changes here and there, and the latest in DIY projects was this entrance. It was an awful funky beige with a deep yellow tone. Made me cringe. But this summer I transformed it to its current summer look:

This is my favorite area in the house because it is completely me. In case you are wondering why that is, its because a lot of the rest of the house was part of my husband and his kids (who live with us fulltime) life before I arrived. While the kids mom never lived in this house, I am very cognizant and sensitive to the fact that many memories have been made by them before I married into the family. Although I have to tell you— they boys love it every time I make changes :)

Now that you know the transition of the entrance to this point, let’s talk about its transition into fall. When deciding what I wanted to do, it was hard because I really do love this uncluttered entrance. And I love the palette more than anything. So, the typical “autumn” colors is not what I wanted. It was not until I visited a local decor boutique that I found what I was looking for.

I added some pumpkins made of fabric and natural materials to keep that organic feel of fall, but still keeping it neutral. I also added a jute runner and some bunny tail dried florals to add texture. Because of the lamp on the right, I needed to add height on the left (that’s my OCD at work), and a beautiful cake stand did the trick beautifully. The result is definitely, very much my style, while bringing in the new seasons feel. PS- Other than the front door, the light is terrible in this room, but the wall paint is a bright white color.

And that’s it. I know that this minimalistic style is not for everyone, but it is giving me all the hygge vibes I need after an insanely busy summer, that is not yet over. I especially love it in the morning, because this is my devotional reading nook, and I find this uncluttered space is very conducive to reflecting and praying in the morning, while I drink my coffee in silence. And that is it for my attempt at a decoration blog post…LOL.
