Welcome Autumn Blog Tour ~ Earthy Tones to Welcome The Season
Hello everyone! If you are here, the probability is that you are participating or checking out the ‘Welcome Autumn Home Decor on a Tray’ Blog Tour hosted by Katherine at Katherine’s Corner and coming to visit after visiting the lovely Debbie at Debbie-Dabble Blog. So, welcome to this fun tour celebrating my favorite time of the year and thank you for visiting!
Decorating for fall is always a favorite of mine, but in recent years I’ve kept it to a minimum. The older I get, the more I want to simplify things. And this year’s decor reflects that. From how I decorated my entryway to the kitchen and dining room, it’s been kept minimalistic, but still warm (well, in my opinion 😊).
Even before the tour, I knew what I wanted for my dining room table— a tray with a few items reminiscent of the season. I wanted to keep is simple, and unlike the entry way, which is bright and neutral, I wanted the tones to be warmer in the dining room. Please disregard the blue on the walls— this is in the queue to be redone before the holidays.
But back to the tray— the starting place was a round wicker tray. I had seen it at Crate & Barrel during the summer, but I was not going to pay primo price for it. Thankfully just as fall started, it went on sale. Score! And it is the perfect size for our oblong table. Let me caveat all this with the fact that this dining room set is my husband’s bachelor set. And it is high stool chairs, which… I am not going to go there. But we are waiting until we build the house (hopefully next year if the lumber prices go down) to purchase all new furniture. Yes! LOL
With the wicker tray as inspiration, I decided to choose items with the same organic aesthetic but that also looked a bit more modern and cleaner. I started with a stripped linen tablecloth. And like anything linen or linen blend, I have a love/hate relationship with the natural wrinkles. But I really do love this tablecloth.
I also wanted to bring in some foliage to make the room warmer and I found a beautiful colored eucalyptus bouquet that made me swoon. When I got home, I took it apart to be more open, and a glass vase was the perfect container for it. The beach girl in me always has to have green or blue-tinted around the house to remind me of sea glass.
From here, I chose raffia, and the knitted pumpkins to bring in texture, and also to tie in with the entry way. Which is important because the dining room is the first thing you see to your left when you come into the house.
In addition to the pumpkin, I added decorative beads that have the most beautiful stone heart at the end. The beads color goes perfectly with the gray pumpkin. And to finish it all up— a candle. There is always candles in my house. This one came with tan leather wrapped around it and went perfectly with the decor. To me, candles is the ultimate touch to make a room feel inviting and cozy.
In all, I love how the tray turned out and really enjoyed putting it together for this fall season tour.
