If you’ve seen my 2025 book goals, you know I’m making a conscious effort to explore new book genres rather than sticking to my usual favorites. One genre that has unexpectedly captured my interest is fantasy—especially stories featuring gardens, fairies, and other enchanting elements. I’ve been told the particular niche I like is called “romantasy”— which is just what it sounds like: a mix of romance and fantasy.

It’s a genre where you get a love story, but with magical or supernatural elements thrown in, like wizards, mythical creatures, or otherworldly adventures. Think of it as a romance set in a world that’s anything but ordinary—where the couple might be saving a kingdom, battling monsters, or dealing with magical powers while navigating their relationship. It’s perfect if you like both love stories and fantasy! I didn’t seek it out intentionally; I just picked up a book and was completely drawn in.
